Hello everyone!I have searched on the Internet some forum where I can vent and found this page.It is the first time that I enter and I have not read much since I am very overwhelmed and I fear doing it more.
It is not me who suffers from the disease, it is my father, the person I love most in the world.He is an insulin dependent diabetic but never has controlled levels despite the great sacrifices that he does for it what makes him be in a very low mood, he lives sad and this desperates me deeply.It has been living with the disease for 12 years but now it begins to complicate more since in the last review they have seen the high ocular tension (21-25).I am very scared and I do not know where to resort, neither do I know if I should be alarmed as much as I have done and if the consequences of such tension are always the same or on the contrary there is a way to avoid them to the fullest.I have been looking to make private medical insurance in order to be looked at by some other professional and my surprise has been that none admits to patients with diabetes ... This seems to me an absolute shame.We live in a small province of doctors and where good professionals go to larger cities so we are in a situation of disadvantage and total helplessness.
I do not want to lengthen anymore, there are many doubts that I have but I do not want to steal more time and that it is made heavy to read this. I would be greatly grateful if someone could give me some guidance about where I can go and how I should do it.

To be able to guide you better, it would be good if you told us what treatment your father has, that is, what types of insulin use, doses, schedules, etc.
I do not know what province you are (it would help to know to be able to recommend a doctor), but it is important that your father is examined by an endocrine.To the elderly, especially to type 2 diabetics, the head doctor usually takes them, but it seems nonsense in many cases.
Even if you are in a small site (it is my case too) your father has the right to ask for the change of doctor, both of header and specialist.

We are of Soria´provincia where there are few specialists and no choice option.What I don't know is if diabetes is type 1 or type 2, I don't live at home, I am out for work, and I don't want to ask until the weekend, I don't want you to realize that I am so worried.What I do is that insulin is injected 3 times a day.
I have been going around the subject all afternoon and I am thinking about one thing: what if you do private insurance without telling you that you have diabetes?When then attending an endocrine or ophthalmologist can treat you without the insurance company having evidence that you suffer from the disease?, So that for example they attended to social security in Madrid (we would be willing to go anywhere), how do youwould we have to do it?And one last question can the ocular tension be treated and therefore not to have drastic consequences ...?.
