World Diabetes Day 2011 Bilbao

Well, here is what we have done from Bilbao for this World Diabetes Day 2011:

On Saturday, November 12, in the Paraninfo of the UPV, the Biscay Association of Diabetes We have prepared our central act of World Day 2011 with an act that we expect has good media coverage and is the maximum interest for our partners (about 2000).In collaboration with Ciberdem and the University of the Basque Country (Faculty of Medicine and School of Nursing), we will explain the investigations they are carrying out in diabetes by cyberdem in their laboratories distributed throughout Spain.(This act requires prior registration on the cyberdem website).

The event will be attended by Dr. Bernat Soria, director of the Andalusian Program for Cell Therapy and President of the SED Foundation, who will present the conference "Advances in prediction, prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus".Then, you can experience live and direct, in a practical and entertaining way, the research carried out by Ciberdem in different workshops spread over the spectacular university paraninfo located next to the Guggenheim in which this scientific day will be held (kitchen workshops, footDiabetic, stem cells, sport, labeling food, telemedicine and new technologies, calculation HC rations).

Likewise, on Monday, the 14th we will have our usual informative tables located at nerve points in Bilbao in which we will carry out the glycemia tests in charge of students of the UPV nursing and medicine faculties, and we will provide brochures in which we report ourActivities (to those who already have diabetes) and propose to know the level of diabetic risk (to those who do not have it) using the Fondrisk test.

And the same day 14, in the afternoon, from 4 to 7, in the central cloister of the La Alhóndiga Cultural Center (spectacular building converted thanks to Phillipe Stark), we will assemble a stand in collaboration with Pfizer in which the head of the unit ofDiabetic foot of the Cruces Hospital will make free explorations to the diabetics who pass by.We will also inform our activities and the advantages of being a partner of our association.
