Hello everyone.I know that the SOS sounds loud, but I am really overwhelmed.I just learned that I am pregnant.I have type I diabetes since childhood and already with kidney, sight, etc.My endocrine recommends that I do not continue with pregnancy. But reading online I see that there is a high percentage of people in my case or similar that have given birth without major complications.I know it is difficult to advise in these cases, but if someone has gone through the same thing I would like to know their experience. It seems that everyone cares more about the physical complications that I can have than what I can feel when they advise me to lose a child without knowing if I could be born with health ... Please share your experiences to see if I manage to clarify aLittle my ideas ... Thank you

Jo, it is very difficult to give advice in these cases.
I am also a diabetic since childhood (3 years) and I am also pregnant. But I have no complication. My doctor insisted a lot that I had them soon to avoid any problem.
I suppose the risk for the baby is minimal (if you take care of you during pregnancy) but the irrigation you can run is very high. The best thing you are talking about with your endocrine and raise all the options and in the end the decision will be yours. For example, in case of eyes, natural childbirth is discarded, but the same would not be so bad, with the subject of kidneys no idea. The best thing is that you talk to a specialist.

Many moods!

Hi Mari5

I think as ethics. The best thing is that you talk to your doctor to know the risks for yourself and the baby and you can make a decision.
I have been diabetic for 13 years, without complications for the moment and I am preparing to find a baby. They had always warned me a lot about what I had to prepare when I wanted to be a mother before trying to try.
Do you have good control now?Because maybe if you have good control throughout the pregnancy you can have the baby and be healthy. But I already tell you, I do not know the risks in your case, and better that you report well.

It is a very complex decision.

My vision in these cases is long term.I would try to value your current health and compare it with the possible aggravation of your complications with pregnancy.
Because your offspring will need your mother ... And you are better, you can take care of your child.

I mean there are 3 things to value mainly:

1.- Your physical condition and possible complications
2.- Possible consequences for the baby
3.- How will you and the baby after birth.

Yes, it is to make futurologists ... but the endocrine must consider the situation very clearly, without medical terminology and clearly.
Like the gynecologist.

From there, you can evaluate point 3.

What you do, encourage, the decision will be good and we will support you here ...

Mari5, speaks above all with the specialists who take you, nephrologist, ophtamologist, ... and that they inform you about the possible complications.Cheer up.

Are your controls well?
They can make strict monitoring of high risk pregnancy and minimize problems. It depends on how you are and the desire you have to be a mother.
I also tell you that, if you have considered being a mother, the more time passes, the more difficult.

But my advice is the same: he speaks seriously with doctors and explain the pros and cons. Then value and decide.

Luck.

I go through the same.My endocrine recommended me to abort, instead the gynecologist saw no problem with moving forward with pregnancy.Of course, I take care of me a lot and I had the child without complications, in fact my body did not suffer more sequelae for pregnancy, it was the same.Courage and take care, you will see how it goes well.
