Changing from Lantus to Levemir

Hello, for various reasons (avoiding weight gain, rumors about garglina, better control, etc.) I have decided to change from Lantus Optiset to Levemir.
How should this change be made?
Before I punctured me around 17h in the afternoon 22 units of Lantus, while from Novorapid I used to take 1-2-3-0/1.Should I click on Levemir and at the same time?Should I perform 2 daily doses?
Experiences in terms of people who have changed and how they have gone later ... Is there a weight loss?Should quick insulin habits be changed?
I am a little worried about possible side effects or lack of control ... a thousand thanks in advance.: D

Hello.
Important, are you taking the endocrine?Do not make any change in this style without counting them. The guidelines have to give you the specialist.
I use levimir and the lantus never used it.I am very happy with the Levimir and I put 18 und.A day at once.Personally Levimir does not fat.In a year and a half that we debut, no weight gain.Weight 72 always eating more than before.
Hugs, Quim.

Holasss

I changed from Lantus to Levemir will do 2 or 3 years.

Levemir does not favor weight loss, nor Lantus favors gaining.
Some studies do show that patients who use Lantus have a slight weight gain after years (3 or 4 kilos), regardless of metabolic control.Every higher gain is not attributable to the insulin Glargina, even that slight gain would be necessary to determine the exact cause (daily Kcal increase, lower exercise of physical exercise ...)

As Quim says, the change must be closely supervised by the doctor.
Keep in mind that there are 2 completely different insulins, equating dose in different insulins can lead to a complete error.
In my view, the main advantage of Levemir is that bending the dose you can adjust the basal insulin in 2 sections of 12-14 hours ... If you have very different schedules during the day it is an ideal basal insulin.

It is also true that many people 1 single dose is enough for them to maintain good values.

In my case, what I have noticed these years is that Levemir has less hypoglycemic power, that is, the values between food hours barely vary (once the basal is adjusted, obviously). Therefore, in my case, it does force me to adjust the rapid doses of each meal a little more.
But I already say that it is only my case, perhaps in yours it is not so.

In general, Levemir is put in two doses, every twelve hours.Have you made the change without consulting with the endocrine? It should not make such a change without the endo who prescribes it.

All changes have to be by mediation of the endocrine. And they changed me to Lantus with Lantus optisep and Humalog, the truth is that I am regilated better than before. Insulins all tend to be fattened because they are hormones, but if you do diet and exercise it is not fattened so much. That if I insist the changesThe endocrine, anyway I think it is a recklessness to change something that is not prescribed by the doctors.: D

I, I have returned to the Levemir, and the truth is that m spent some very rare thing. The first 2 days I was in some values .... it did not reach 110 when more and then yesterday and today, doing the same and eating the same thing, almost m can give something because I did not go down D 200 and much and continuously putting Novo Rapid.I put 14 and 12 unleaded (every 12 hours).Novorapid according to HC breakfast, food and dinner.
If I can say today that the lantus is more comfortable, just a puncture and period, but I was not going too well, I even had a lot

I would like Notmy that you said in how many days you regulated the Leevemir, what happens is that I do it in two doses and I think you do it in one, but that is what we do not know about you.
It is to continue because I am desperate.

@Notmy I have changed a month ago from Lantus to Levemir under prescription of my endo.
De Lantus put me 10ud/night and only fast if the blood glucose was greater than 140mg before each main meal.
Now I have a 6-8ud night to regulate according to the morning basal and at 12 hours. And Novorapid at each meal because now I have the threshold from 80 to 120mg.
I have noticed that the first days I had a hard time having the right levels and now I have nightlife with levemir. But according to the days ... so I am trying to reduce the night dose and increase the morning to avoid lunch peaks.

My SS endo gave me his email for doubts.Ask it when you get appointment
