Hello, my name is Roxana, I am 15 years old, from Chile and I was diagnosed with diabetes 5 months ago ... Everything started this year 2013, in March when without realizing it began to drink a lot of water a day I took 4 to 5 liters of water, often urinates, losing many kilos in a few weeks, every time I saw less ... I felt that it would be blind, my clothes were getting more and more loose, and so it was all, three months passed and my mother decided to take me to a doctor, in JuneWe went to doctor we arrived and talked to the doctor, my mother had what happened to me, my symptoms, the doctor when listening to the symptoms that my mother told her that I had, I suspect that it could be diabetes. (A few weeks before I still suspectedthat it could be diabetes) Then it was to send me to do exams, the next day I went to make my exams and after a few days we went to retire, I remember that day was June 6, and Llovia Demaciado ..., againWe went to the doctor to see what the exams said, the doctor reading the exams ... Meanwhile I was nervous just like my mother thinking that she is not bad ... when the doctor melts, she speaks very scared almost grrtiando .."lady!His daughter has diabetes! "He has a lotI felt that my eyes died inside, eager to cry, desire to run, but no ... the only thing that is that moment was to prove that it was strong, to prove that I did not care.Without being able to believe what we finished listening, very quiet walking thinking about what we had heard my mother speaks very surprised- "How is it possible that you have diabetes? If nobody in the family has this disease "and so it repeated that phrase at all times. Meanwhile I was very surprised. For type II diabetes, the doctor was not very clear to know what kind of diabetes I had .. after a few weeks my mother decided to consult with other diabetes specialist doctors, so it was that he found an endocrinologist that remains in Puerto Varas ...The exams came to the doctor and it was to commit the worst, I found out that I had type I diabetes, I was no longer likely to improve the diabetes I was very avansada and by little, if they located after a few more days it would be dead or in a coma... Then it was that the doctor explained to me what I should do, inject my... Then that same day we went to buy things from the pharmacy to treat my illness such as glucometer insulins, etc. which all this was new to me.In all that time I was very calm I didn't worry much to have this disease, the only bad thing I found was not to be ableInsulina for the first time, I remember that moment that that stochon was very painful ... and so it was until today that I have to inject that same month of June my mom consulted in the hospital which gave me time for me to serve meOn June 26 ... we were the hospital they explained everything about diabetes, and it was that the doctor saw myExams that had previously echoed me in Puerto Varas which came out that my hemoglobin (the total sugar in the blood) was very high (14 which is normal is 6 currently I have 6) for my age that was very serious it was then that the doctorVery scared and surprised saying that I had never seen a person with 14 hemoglobin was alive and less someone of my age then it was that I hospitalize that same day, I was very scared wanting to cry because I had never been hospitalized and that right now comeTo hospitalize me it was very rare for me and for my potatoes the same ... I still remember that the doctor congratulated me saying that he was a very strong person to be alive with that level of hemoglobin .., then that same day he is in the Hospital Pór2 days and my mother sleeping with me those two nights, then they discharged me, I arrived at my house again ... 2 months passed with this disease I felt very good, my levels of sugar in my blood were totally normal, I did notIt mattered at all to have this disease but then it was that at the beginning of September I had no desire to take care of this disease no longer took care of me as before, my levels of sugar were completely out of control, a bit things that I did not owe towards exercises, until the dayToday my sugar levels are very high

Avesses I feel very bad and I wonder why I have to have this disease, because at this age and not be able to enjoy that many things that people do and eat ...

Welcome to the forum @Roxanita19, I have read your long presentation and reminded me of moments that I have lived, moreover, I am sure you will receive many other messages from people who have gone through the same thing, so, you can be calm, you are not aloneIn diabetes.

Now the most important thing is that you control yourself again, and that you clarify the doubts you have, this is a background race, so it is normal to have high and low, encourage, and ask what passes you through your head!

Hello, Roxanita.
I understand that it is not easy for you, and with your age it costs a lot to understand it.You have to have a lot of strength, a lot of encouragement, have very clear things.Your life will no longer be the same, from now on medication, diet, exercise, all very sacrificed. You will feel different from the other girls of your age.But even so, you will get it and you can lead a very acceptable life.Remember that we are diabetics millions of people and
There we are, with that continuous sacrifice. Now you should contact people of your age who are also diabetic, to try to better understand what happens to you.Your parents will give you a lot of help too.The principle is complicated, it is difficult to accept it.Then when you gradually control your levels, you will feel better.
A hug.

Welcome to the forum, @Roxanita19.Look what coincidence, you are the same age as my daughter, with a difference, she has been living with diabetes for 10 years !!! ... the principles are hard. You have to assume the disease, learn, but you'll see how little by little you have enough knowledge so that it does not bother you so much and you can make a very good life ... I think they have scared you a lot, so that it serves as Consuelo, most people who debut have very high glycosylated hemoglobin, and this is regulated as sugar levels are also doing it.
So don't get rid of you ... there are young young people of your age who happen the same as you, and I assure you that you can!And if you learn a lot about what you eat and the insulin you have to cover it, you can even eat whims that you may now miss ... yes, it is important that you take care of yourself, the moreBetter, because you are very young and you have a lifetime for Dlante.
A hug!

Hello
neither with 15 nor with 30 nor with 60 .... no matter age.None like to be tied to something like that.to daily controls and with medicines and syringes on top every day.

Don't worry.Think that there are very worse diseases that leave totally annulled or blocked to those who suffer from them.

Diabetes requires controls and regulations every day but that's it.You can live and enjoy almost everything like anyone in your age.You just need to be a source and brave.
Against more face, take this new life situation you will take every day.

The diabetics are scared by the levels we take when we use the glucometer.
The difference is that people who are not diabetics do not look at the levels, but if they were seen, they would check and go down too.
What happens is that the pancreas does not work well and does not manufacture the insulin we need. That's why we have to put it.
That's, you don't have to worry anymore. It is better to wear all this well taken, seriously and without fear. There are millions of people just like you and that I and we don't have to be afraid. We are not alone or we are weirdo.
I entered the hospital by my own foot with your same symptoms with 822mg/dl a week ago and after 3 days in the hospital I have gone with things very clear and determined to carry this in the only way to take it.

In a responsible, serious and fearful manner.
Don't worry. The world in general is worse than us

Good to everyone.

My real name is Rafa and I have recently detected diabetes and the truth is that all new, food theme, what products do I have to take, etc.

For me it is a problem and that is why I have decided to make an App to solve this problem. That is why I am doing a small survey to see/value the idea and the needs that the app can.

I hope that with this I can help many who, like me, are detected diabetes and are somewhat lost.

I have also opened a Twitter account (_diabetApp) to also create a small community and also be able to contact more people.

The link to the survey is Link

Thanks to all and encouragement to all who start

Hi Roxanita, welcome to this/our house.
Little more I can add to the comments that the classmates have told you.
Just tell you, do not despair, take this "disease" as normal, tells that it has its bad things, but also good, bad, especially you will have to avoid eating according to things and controlling carbohydrates, carbohydrates,Apart from the punctures.
For the rest, you will lead an equally normal life as other people, you will not stop doing anything that others do not.
Instead, think about the positive things that this disease has, you will eat healthy, learn to eat, exercise (something that is very positive both have the disease and do not have it) if you do this also positive that you will not gain weight, provided thatYou take a diet as God commands.
Think about the positive and forget everything negative, if you carry more or less all regulated as I have told you before you will do a totally normal life.
Over time you will learn yourself to carry this "disease" with total normality, and do not worry, because if you look online you will see that the percentage of people with diabetes is very high, you will not be alone.
He also thinks as they have already told you, that this is just compared to other very worse diseases.
For your way of expressing you, it gives me in the nose, that you are a strong girl, to which Roxanita, limp the bull for the horns and do not be afraid of what is happening to you that it is not something as bad as you believe,Only that assuming this to the Prinpio costs, but you will see how little by little and doing everything well is not as difficult as you see now.

I could write to you things that dizzy, the truth is that for me diabetes is an opportune, which is not pleasant, you decide if fear and resentment govern your life, the truth is that God always chooses his best warriors to LibraryThe strongest battles because they know that they would achieve it, could you call God unfair?, Maybe if you are in your right to get angry but only a moment, because not only you are sick if not your whole family, you are not alone, you are not alone,There are the beings that you love near you and they suffer together with you, so you decide, be a patient who hurts and dies causing penalty or a patient who asepts his illness and embraces her as part of your life and living her with happiness,Because the fullest happiness occurs in the midst of suffering, God always accompanies you and will give you the strength of moving forward for you and your family greetings and I hope you serve you these words, only God decides when it will be your true ending, orThe disease itself decides.
