Balearic children with diabetes today end their educational colonies

Nearly fifty children with Balearic diabetes between 7 and 16 years end today their days of educational colonies, an experience in which in addition to enjoying the summer, they receive information and advice on how to deal and live with the disease.

The XXVIII Diabetological Education Colonies for Children, organized by the Association of People with Diabetes of the Balearic Islands (ADIBA), will be closed today at 1:00 p.m. with an act to which the Department of Salut, Vicenç Thomàs, will attend, who will deliver the diplomasTo the children attending.

This year, due to the high number of inscriptions, the colonies have been divided by ages into two groups: one with children from 7 to 12 years who have been seven days in the Albudia victory shelter;and another with teenagers from 13 to 16 who have spent ten days in the Leridano Pyrenees and who will arrive tonight to Palma.

Adiba members indicate the benefits that these educational colonies in children: "The relaxed environment, contact with nature, far from hospital and family tensions, and coexistence with other children allow the adaptation of treatment to daily activities".

The objective is, they emphasize from Adiba, "favor personal development, improve self -esteem and diabetes self -control."
