Hello everyone, a question.

If someone no longer has access to health care in Spain and needs insulin, what can they do?

Is there anywhere they can go to buy medications such as insulin or reactive strips? Are there charities or organistations that can help?

I'm sorry if I've missed some words ...:-/

Thanks and greetings
Mike

Hi Mike

It is always a pleasure that you participate in the forum.

Reactive strips can be bought directly in pharmacies (€ 45 or so the 50 -strips box) or pharmaceutical laboratories (ABBOTT, Lifescan, Roche, Menarini, Bayer), is a matter of contacting the headquarters in Spain andMake an order, always better if a large order is made (perhaps between 2 or 3 patients).

Insulin is a bit more difficult.
Buying without a medical recipe is illegal ... No pharmacy or website should sell insulin without a medical recipe.

For emergency situations, doctors without borders collect medications and health material. He distributes them to where they know what they need, sometimes in the third world and sometimes within Spain.

You could investigate for the City of Torrevieja.
Ask for the social worker or by the Department of Social Services, maybe there is someone who knows more thoroughly the reality of NGOs (non -guernamental organizations) who work for your area.

Another possibility is to ask the Official Pharmaceutical College of Alicante, they should answer how they use unused medicines that patients return.

All the best

As insulin is a vital treatment they will have to give it to it in the emergency room, because if it would not be there every day ....
