Hello, I'm new and I have a few doubts

Hello good
I am a 14 -year -old boy, recently diagnosed diabetes (type 1 in my case), at first it gave me as sadness, but as I already knew that people live with diabetes many years, because they quickly go to optimism.:)
I am currently in a diet to gain weight.
The day of my debut I don't know exactly, because they told me that I had diabetes when they entered me with moderate ketoacidosis, what could be the day of my debut? The day they entered me?: Shock:
I have been reading in this forum for 5 days and I like it a lot, so I dared to register, and also tell you that I have enough doubts that I hope you can answer me, I do not know if this section of the forum is adequate, but well, let me know ifIt's like that to be wrong: D
My treatment consists of Humalog Mix 25, 18 units in the morning and 8 at night, my doctor told me that in case of not achieving the goals (110-120 mg/dl on an emptyards and 140-160 mg/dl before thedinner) will add 2 more units.Certainly this treatment does not quite convince me because my good results are not constant, my results are currently around 300 mg/dl, although there are a few days that surpass them, and that does not have me very happy.:(
I have read a lot about the medicines and I have convinced myself that the Mix insulinof fast insulin (Humalog Kwikpen is the one I consider) and one of slow (Lantus solostar) because that way I can be my own pancreas, that is, handle the basal and the bolus to punctures. What do you think? Is it better to have two separate bolis?Do I tell my endocrinologist? What are your experiences? I certainly want to have control of the disease because I do not want to have long -term complications, so I want to control my HBA1C or hemoglobins.: D
By the way I also wanted to ask what net carbohydrates are?Because I have read that the carbohydrates marked by the nutrient info are subtracted from sweeteners and fiber.:?
And what do they tell me?Can one give one your whims from time to time, or is food with diabetes very strict as it was said in the past? They usually eat pizza, ice cream, hamburgers or things like that?:))
A and what types of exams or analysis do you do?Apart from hemoglobin, to know that they also control their disease?:-/

Welcome, Ksánchez.
I will try to answer your questions.
The day of the debut is usually the day they diagnose diabetes.
I do not like insulins with insulins, and less in a type 1 diabetes, which I suppose it is the one you have.It is much easier to carry good control with a basal (Lantus, for example) and an ultra -grape (Humalog, Novorapid or Apidra).Tell it with your endocrine and, if possible, give you some talks about the management of diabetes (insulin, diet for portions, etc.)
I don't know what you mean with "net carbohydrates."In nutritional information, you should simply take carbohydrates to calculate insulin.Factors such as fiber or fat can slow the absorption of hydrates.
Regarding the whims, always without abusing, you can eat whatever you want.I recommend that you do not do it until you know how to handle yourself with insulin, but then of course you can afford from time to time and controlling.
The analyzes are recommended by the specialist, although glycosylated hemoglobin is essential, as well as other important parameters: cholesterol, triglycerides, creatinine, etc.
Ask all the doubts you have.

Thanks Alea
Yes, I want to have two insulin (basal and bolus) to have better control, but all insulins have presentations in Boli?

Of net carbohydrates found this
Link ... tivos.html >

And with those "whims" how do you handle you?

By the way, glucose meter recommends me, mine is wrong, if I measure it once it can leave 86 and if I do it immediately for the second time, 124 comes out.

Ksánchez, that diet is dangerous.Download it.It is based on eliminating hydrates and using only proteins and fats.It is very harmful.
I spend a very complete website where you can get to know everything about diabetes, carbohydrate rations, etc.

Regarding glucometers, they are all more or less similar.I like the Opium Xceed, the One Touch in its different versions, etc.But with none of them you will get measured twice and that there are no variations, even if you use the same drop of blood, because they have a variable range.
Regarding the whims, look on the web that I have linked to you "the ice cream test"

I was certainly not using that diet, I have one to gain weight.

Hey by the way, then do carbohydrates matter more than sugar or how do they affect glycemia?

Sugar is a carbohydrate. All carbohydrates are transformed into sugar. What happens is that there are rapid absorption carbohydrates, such as common sugar, juices, etc., and slow absorption carbohydrates (legumes, whole wheat bread, etc.)
You also have to take into account other factors that can slow the absorption, especially fats and fiber.
The faster the absorption is, the more the blood glucose rises, and that must be taken into account to calculate the insulin and the schedules. For example, if you have hypoglycemia, you need very fast absorption hydrates to trace it.It is not advisable to take cakes, chocolates, etc., because absorption is delayed.
