The second day of the Diabetes Melilla School starts

Today the second day of the School of Diabetes starts that has become the Melilla Regional Hospital for training in this pathology of children's patients, their parents, tutors and other relatives.The objective is to obtain better control of the disease and reduce complications both in the short and medium term.

The child is a dependent person who is educated from the consultation of diabetes individually and through group sessions.Many times parents do not participate in this formation, delegating responsibilities such as the self -management of diabetes, without getting involved at the time of food, approach to physical exercise or dose of insulin therapy.This lower implication is observed, above all, in the less favored social classes.It is difficult, for the child, to carry out a correct self -management of diabetes if food is offered at home that are not the most indicated, as well as if physical activity is not favored.

The Diabetes School is offered weekly, every Tuesday afternoon, for four hours in total.According to different studies, group education of chronic patients, such as diabetes, always welcomes better because it gives patients to express their emotions, fears, concerns and doubts about the correct management of the disease.For this, a comfortable space has been designed, such as the table of the Assembly Hall of the Regional Hospital, a specific day and in the afternoon for the maximum influx.
