Valencia in April will be the capital of diabetes

The city of Valencia will host a new encounter related to diabetes, in this case the protagonists will not be patients as in Experience Day diabetes and if doctors, researchers and educators from all over Spain.The 26th National Congress of the Spanish Diabetes Society (SED), which will be held from April 15 to 17 at the Valencia Congresses Palace will bring together outstanding experts in the study and treatment of diabetes and more than a thousand specialists,Researchers and educators in diabetes from all over Spain.

Dr. Ascaso recalled that the Atlas of Diabetes of the International Diabetes Federation has already warned that "in the last two years, the prevalence in Spain has increased by 33.41% in adults."And he added that "if the health administration and the population do not decide to fight it with a healthy diet and exercise, in 2035 this figure will have doubled with 5.1 million patients, as many as the inhabitants of the Valencian Community."

Thus, he stressed that "adequate prevention is highly positive, both in the quality of life and well -being of the diabetic patient, and in the best use of health resources."

The activities of the Valencia Congress will begin with a debate table organized jointly by the thirst and the Federation of Spanish Diabetics (FEDE), in which the situation of the child will be addressed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) in school and importanceof the diet and the exercise in the control of diabetes mellitus, in two presentations by Luis González Martos, and Franz Martín and Serafín Murillo, respectively.

It should be noted that this debate table will be open not only to the congressmen but to the general population, and in the same the president of the thirst, Dr. Edelmiro Menéndez, and the president of Fede, Andoni Lorenzo, will participate as moderators.
