It will investigate how to prevent the appearance of type 2 diabetes with the design of a program that improves the population's lifestyles.

The University of Zaragoza has been selected to participate in the European project Feel4Diabetes, which will investigate how to prevent the appearance of type 2 diabetes in the countries most affected by the economic crisis.

The Loteel4Diabetes project is part of the Horizon 2020 program in which the University of Zaragoza participates, with the Genud Group and the Primary Dyslipemia Research Group, and together with ten other partners they will focus the investigation on countries with low socio-economic level such as Bulgariaor Poland and in those that are subject to the economic crisis such as Spain or Greece, as reported by the University of Zaragoza in a press release.

The economic crisis has favored an increase in obesity, due to the consumption of cheaper and caloric foods, and this is one of the main risk factors of diabetes mellitus or type 2, which produces metabolic disorders due to an inappropriate elevation of glucosein blood and today affects between 5% and 15% of the adult population.

The research will be carried out through the preceding method proceeding, which consists of the systematic analysis of health determinants in the areas where the program will be carried out, as explained by the institution.

The University of Zaragoza has achieved this European project throughout 2014, a year in which 5 million has entered European projects, and specifically with the Feel4Diabetes project together with the rest of the participants will have until August 2019 to develop a program that a program thatImprove healthy lifestyles of the population and thus, to avoid the presence of type 2 diabetes.
