Daniela Díaz has suffered diabetes for 21 years.By indication of his doctor, in January 2013 he asked his social work to facilitate an “insulin bomb” to avoid future complications. The prepaid denied him the order, and had to go to justice.Through an amparo resource, the social work was forced to solve the tool.Daniela has used it for two days. His testimony.

A history of struggle and claim of the right to health, starred Daniela Díaz, who has suffered diabetes for 21 years.By indication of his doctor, the prestigious endocrinologist, Fernando Morana, Daniela asked his social work to provide him with an “insulin bomb”, with the objective of “avoiding future complications,” he explained to ANB.

The social work- personal union- denied the request, and through his lawyer, Jorge Olguín, Daniela made presentations before justice in January 2013, because "we have rights and laws that protect us," he said.

Through an amparo appeal to which the instructional judge Ricardo Calcagno made room, the social work was forced to solve Daniela's "insulin bomb".“The claim took me a long time and I work. But, we do not have to let ourselves be, we have national laws that grant us rights, ”he said, encouraging other patients to demand“ what corresponds to us by law ”.

Daniela uses the so -called insulin bomb for only two days.He assures that he can maintain “a normal life” and perform activities, regulating the amount of insulin issued by the pump.

The prestigious endocrinologist, Fernando Morana, detailed the functionality of the instrument, for patient paintings such as Daniela. In that sense, in dialogue with ANB, he explained that it is a "tool that should be used by some diabetic patients who are under treatment with insulin, and in certain situations."He specified, in that line, that “in the cases of patients who did not respond well to the different insulin scheme treatments”.

He explained that it is prescribed to "regulate the treatment of diabetes."

As for possible derivations in diabetes paintings, Morana explained that the disease "brings complications if it was not well controlled."

He said that there are two types in which diabetes could be presented in a patient.Type 2 (of adults), which implies an oral treatment, and has as its preponderant factor the hereditary. And type 1, whose patients are called insulin-dependent, has a lower degree of hereditary component.

Meanwhile, he indicated that there are risk factors that predispose to the painting: hypertension, high levels of blood triglycerides, obesity, among others.

Dr. Morana pointed out that the "insulin bomb" is indicated in pregnant patients and people who perform extreme or risk sports, and allows "a normal life."

The legal framework that forced the social work Personal Union to pay for the “insulin bomb”, is stipulated by “the National Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (instituted in Argentina by National Law 23,753 and its Regulatory Decree 1271/98) ”That orders the coverage of medicines and basic supplies for the control and treatment of diabetes.

The program specifically mentions insulin pump as an element that “must be covered before the indication of a specialized professional”, a condition that Daniela complied.

On the other hand, in the article 59 of the Provincial Constitution, it is established that "health is an essential right and a social good that makes human dignity." (ANB)
