Caracas, Nov 15 (PL) The Venezuelan Minister of Health, Henry Ventura, reported today that the Bolivarian Government invested 1,172 million dollars last year for the treatment of diabetes, third cause of death in the country.

The revolution has increased the life expectancy of the population, as a result of the state policy of President Nicolás Maduro to improve eating habits, eliminate alcohol consumption, tobacco and increase physical activity for good living, said the holder duringThe great walk of the fight against diabetes and certification of Venezuela free from rubella.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the initiative is part of the Chronic Non -Trans -Trans -Trans -Trans -Trans -Trans -Trans -Transmissible Chronic Diseases Program, which departed this Sunday from the National Institute of Hygiene Rafael Rangel to Paseo Los Próceres, in this capital.

Ventura said that in Venezuela it is estimated that seven percent of the population over 20 suffers from type 2 diabetes;0.5 percent of children under 15 suffer from type 1 and 3;and five percent of pregnant women develop gestational diabetes.

The minister delivered 100 glucometers totally free to people with that disease, in order to guarantee the monitoring and treatment of pathology in the population.

Every Sunday, the Ministries for Health and Youth and Sports carry out days of physical activities such as Bailotherapy, Recreation and Spinning, in order to boost exercise to promote a healthier life, as well as medical checkpoints and visual health.
