Thirst organizes the I career ‘Run together for diabetes’

The Spanish Diabetes Society (SED) organizes in Valencia the I Popular Carrera-Marcha 'Running together for diabetes', which will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m. with the objective of “stimulating and raising awareness of the population aboutThe importance of physical exercise to prevent and control diabetes. ”

The race, not competitive, will travel the old channel of the Turia River along 5 kilometers with departure and finish on the bridge of the exhibition, and in its organization, in addition to the thirst, its foundation (F-SED), theSociety's lifestyle work group and the Valencian Association of Diabetes (AVD).

Registration can be done through the website www.correrporladiabetes.es and includes a donation of 5 euros that will be fully destined to finance AVD projects.

Obesity and sedentary lifestyle

The president of SED, Dr. Edelmiro Menéndez, stressed that "obesity and sedentary lifestyle are the main reasons for the alarming increase of people with diabetes in Spain" and recalled that "the inclusion of physical exercise in the daily routine and a correctFood are fundamental aspects in the management of patients with diabetes and, especially, the elderly. ”
